Hidden Indigo began with two founders from Guizhou, China — a place where mountains, villages, and handmade traditions have shaped the way we see beauty. We grew up around batik and Miao embroidery, not as something rare or distant, but as part of everyday life.
We did not discover these traditions from far away. We grew up beside them.
For us, Guizhou is not only our hometown. It is the sound of mountain villages after rain, the deep blue of indigo cloth, and the quiet patience of hands drawing wax lines one by one.
When we were young, batik and Miao embroidery felt familiar — almost ordinary. They appeared in village markets, local homes, and the memories of everyday life. But as we grew older, we began to understand how precious they truly are.
Behind every handmade piece is time, memory, skill, and a way of seeing the world that cannot be replaced by machines.
Many of the makers are growing older. Their work should not fade quietly.
Many of the batik and embroidery makers we meet today are older artisans. Their hands are steady, their knowledge is deep, and their patterns carry years of lived experience.
But fewer young people choose this slow path. Many leave the villages for faster work in cities. A craft can disappear not because people stop loving it, but because there is no lasting way for its makers to continue.
We do not want Guizhou batik and Miao embroidery to remain only as memories, performances, or souvenirs. We want these traditions to be seen, worn, respected, and carried into modern life around the world.

Our collection focuses on handcrafted batik and Miao embroidery jewelry — including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches — alongside a small selection of scarves and textile accessories. Each piece is designed to bring cultural meaning and quiet handmade beauty into everyday life.
